82nd Anniversary Gala
The Music Institute of Chicago’s (MIC) Gala, which was an elegant and inspirational evening, has become one of Chicago’s annual civic highlights. The Music Institute’s prestigious Dushkin Award was presented to internationally-acclaimed composer and lyricist, Stephen Sondheim, and the 2012 Cultural Visionary Award for Chicago was presented to distinguished philanthropist and patron of the arts, Marilynn B. Alsdorf. Guests also enjoyed brief performances by MIC’s talented students. Proceeds from the Gala are the primary source of scholarship and financial aid for students enrolled in the Music Institute’s community partnership initiatives in the inner city, as well as in the Community Music School and Academy programs.
