EVENT CANCELLED
As our Chicago Committee considered this year’s Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation dinner, we knew that 2020 is not life as usual. Social distancing will remain a part of our lives through year end. There are new financial demands on all of us and on the lives of the less fortunate. Considering these factors, and the health and safety of our supporters, we made the decision to cancel this year’s event previously scheduled for October 5, 2020.
We will be honoring Edgewater Funds, Jim Gordon and Greg Jones on October 4, 2021 at the Four Seasons. Please save the date!
That said, the need for continued fundraising for existing and new scholarships continues. The Scholarship Foundation received record applications this year. The coronavirus pandemic will surely increase demand in 2021.
The Chicago Committee’s goal is to raise $30 million to ensure that every child of a severely injured Marine or Navy Corpsman has the opportunity to pursue his/her education. By providing $30,000 in scholarship funding, we hope to alleviate some of the financial pressure these families face when considering higher education or career technical education for their children. Over the next 20 years, there will be over 1,000 children who qualify for this program – today many are just toddlers. We have a long way to go in meeting that need. To date, with the support of the Chicago community, the Chicago Dinner has raised nearly 50% of the $30 million we require.
While our Chicago Dinner for 2020 has been cancelled, the need still very much exists.
On behalf of the families of valiant Marines stationed around the world to help keep us safe, thank you for your consideration. We very much appreciate your ongoing support.
